Technological Advances
Flying shuttle doubles output of weavers
Spinning Jenny allows for faster production of yarn

Crompton's Mule combines aspects of the spinning Jenny and water frame
Power loom invented in 1787
Concept of bringing workers to the means of production came about (factories)
Newcomen invents atmospheric engine to pump water from coal mines
James Watt improved upon the Newcomen engine, invents the steam engine
1782 Watt creates a rotary steam engine to power machinery
technology applied to textiles production
Henry Cort discovers a method of refining iron by burning impurities with coke

Changes in Attitude
workers now forced to keep regular hours
workers no longer owned the means of production
adults fined for breaking factory regulations, Children were subjected to corporal punishment

Societal Changes
Growth of Population from declining death rate due to higher availability of food, less disease etc.
Cities grew as factory workers lived around their place of employment
Urban conditions were crowded and unsanitary
Entrepreneurs became the new middle class (bourgeois)
The gap between rich and poor continued to grow
